Western Water has installed Hitachi Data Systems’ new Unified Storage System (HUS), which will deliver block and file storage from one platform.
Western Water will be working closely with Hitachi Data Systems gold partner Perfekt, to align their IT strategy with the requirements of their business. They will be able to implement reliable, secure and highly available information technology solution supported by best practice processes and services, which will ensure long-term value to Western Water’s business and customers.
Jeff Smith, assistant manager and systems/network administrator at Western Water, said “Over the last two years, Western Water has seen a steady rise of the amount of information it manages due to higher quality aerial images and geographical information systems data, email archiving, CCTV footage and an increase in social media and real-time applications. As such the organisation needed to plan for its future growth as well as meet its current information management and storage requirements. “The Hitachi Unified Storage solution was chosen due to its ability to support Western Water’s ‘Next Generation Model’ – allowing a single management framework supporting file, block and object storage and integrating seamlessly with the existing environment. The solution will allow information to be more available when required in order to make critical decisions for the business.
